How to record the property with your phone.
The calmer the recording, the cleaner the walkthrough. Four requirements and five rules. Open this page on your phone when you are at the property.
First: four requirements
Without these four things the walkthrough won't work. If a recording doesn't meet them, we will ask you to record it again.
- A recent phoneA smartphone with an ultra-wide camera (0.5x), such as an iPhone 11 or newer. We are still testing Android phones.
- Ultra-wide lensRecord the video at 0.5x. The regular camera captures too little of the room.
- Walk slowlyWalk slowly, slower than usual, as on a relaxed viewing.
- Move the camera slowlyTurn the phone smoothly and slowly. Sudden moves and fast turns ruin the walkthrough.
Five rules
The ultra-wide lens
Switch the camera to 0.5x. It captures more of the room at once.
Phone upright
Hold it upright in front of your chest, with both hands.
Slowly, as on a viewing
Walk slowly, slower than usual, and move the camera smoothly. It looks ahead or slightly towards the walls.
Room by room
In each room: a lap along the walls at chest height, the same lap the other way at eye height and, in larger rooms, one diagonal. Then on to the next room.
No spinning in place
Don't turn around on the spot in the middle of the room. Turn while you walk.
Before you start
- Turn on all the lights, open the curtains
- Open the interior doors
- Put away personal photos and documents
- Clean the lens
Avoid
- People and pets in the frame
- Sudden moves and fast turns
- Close-ups of a wall or a mirror
- Zoom (use only 0.5x or 1x)
Questions about recording
01What phone do I need?
An iPhone with an ultra-wide camera (0.5x), which means an iPhone 11 or newer. We are still testing Android phones. If you have an Android phone, write to us before your first recording and we will check it together. #
02How long does it take?
The recording takes 3-5 minutes for a one-bedroom flat. The walkthrough is ready within an hour of us receiving the video. #
03What if the recording isn't good?
We check every video as soon as we receive it. If something is wrong, we tell you exactly what to record again, so you can do it while you are still at the property or nearby. #
04What about personal belongings in the property?
Before recording, put away photos, documents and anything the owner doesn't want to be seen. Don't film people. We don't publish the address or location of the property unless you add it. #
